Community Guidelines

Version 1.0 — Effective 17 March 2026

MainDeck is a professional networking platform built on the values of honesty, respect, and authentic professional identity. These Guidelines describe what behaviour is expected from all members and what is not allowed. They apply to everything you post, share, or send on the platform — including posts, articles, comments, messages, profile content, and your username.

Violations may result in content removal, account suspension, or permanent termination, depending on severity and history.

1. Be authentic

  • Real identity — Use your real name and represent yourself accurately. Impersonating another person, organisation, or public figure is not allowed.
  • Accurate credentials — Do not claim qualifications, titles, employment, or professional experience you do not have.
  • One account per person — You may not create multiple accounts to circumvent restrictions or to artificially inflate engagement.

2. Be respectful

  • No harassment or abuse — Do not target individuals with repeated unwanted contact, threats, insults, or humiliation. This includes direct messages and public posts.
  • No hate speech — Do not post content that dehumanises people based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, or similar characteristics.
  • No intimidation — Do not use the platform to threaten, coerce, or intimidate anyone.
  • Critique ideas, not people — Professional disagreement is healthy. Attack arguments with evidence, not people with insults.

3. Post relevant, honest content

  • Professional context — Content should relate to professional life, industry knowledge, career development, or topics of genuine professional interest. Personal life content is welcome when it connects to professional themes.
  • No misinformation — Do not deliberately spread false information, fabricated statistics, or misleading claims about people, companies, or events.
  • No spam — Do not post repetitive content, mass-send unsolicited messages, or use automated tools to flood the platform with low-quality content.
  • Disclose commercial relationships — If you are being paid or incentivised to promote a product, service, or company, disclose this clearly.

4. Protect others’ privacy

  • No doxxing — Do not publish private information about others (home addresses, phone numbers, private emails, personal photos) without their consent.
  • Confidential information — Do not share confidential or proprietary information belonging to an employer, client, or third party.
  • Consent for sharing — Do not screenshot and republish private conversations without the permission of all participants.

5. Respect intellectual property

  • Copyright — Only share content you have the right to share. Give proper credit when quoting or reproducing others’ work.
  • No plagiarism — Do not present others’ work as your own.

6. Prohibited content

The following content is never permitted, regardless of context:

  • Illegal content of any kind, including content that violates applicable EU or national law
  • Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) — reported immediately to authorities
  • Instructions or encouragement for violence, terrorism, or self-harm
  • Malware, phishing links, or content designed to defraud users
  • Explicit sexual content
  • Content designed to manipulate elections or incite civil unrest

7. Endorsements and recommendations

  • Endorsements must be genuine and based on direct personal knowledge or experience. You must write a sentence explaining the basis of your endorsement — one-click endorsements are not available by design.
  • Do not solicit or offer payment, gifts, or reciprocal endorsements for endorsements you have not earned.

8. Advertising and promoted content

  • Advertising is contextual. Behavioural targeting requires explicit opt-in.
  • Prohibited targeting categories: health conditions, religion, sexual orientation, political beliefs, ethnicity, trade union membership.
  • All promoted content is clearly labelled “Sponsored”.
  • Advertisers must comply with applicable EU advertising and consumer protection law.

9. Enforcement

We review reported content and act on violations. Actions range from a warning to content removal, temporary suspension, or permanent account termination, depending on the severity and pattern of violations. We will tell you when we take action on your account and give you an opportunity to appeal.

To report a violation, use the “Report” button on any post, profile, or message, or contact us at trust@maindeck.eu.

10. Appeals

If you believe we made an error in removing your content or suspending your account, you can appeal within 30 days of the decision by contacting trust@maindeck.eu with the subject line “Appeal: [your username]”. We aim to respond within 14 days.

11. Changes to these Guidelines

We may update these Guidelines as the platform evolves. Material changes will be announced at least 30 days in advance. The version and effective date above always reflect the current version.
